Windows 10 Office 2013 office 365 Bootstrapper not responding

How to fix

I installed windows 10 on released everything was fantastic until i tried to launch outlook or any office product, they promptly failed to open or gave me licence is invalid or corrupt and could not repair, so i quickly started to work on a workaround, i soon found i was not alone but that this normally affected windows 7 or windows 8, but none of these were solutions for me so how did i fix it! ill tell you how!

Firstly i made sure i had no previous installations of office(from way back! just in case there was left files from previous upgrades / tests)

To do this i ran windows removal / fixit tools for each version of office. You will need to remove and reinstall 2013 as well!

You will need to run these :

Removes office 2010

Removes Office 2007

Remove office 2003

Remove office 2013

Now you will need to edit your registry this can be tricky for novice users but follow the below

press the Windows key + R

then use the tree panel on the left and goto “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\”

Delete the entry “AppCompatFlags”

then use the tree panel on the left and goto “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\”

Delete the entry “AppCompatFlags”

Now close regedit

Now press the “windows key”

then type “CMD” an application will appear right click it and select “Run as admin”

now type

“REG add “HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Schedule” /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f”

press Enter then type

“net start Schedule”

Now restart your computer

Try to install Office 2013 or Office 365, this should now work fine. it took me a long time to figure out all of the above so i hope this helps save you the headache 🙂
